Fearless Predictions - American League

First, let me just tell you how juiced I am to see baseball is back. Fuck I love this sport. I actually watched that TBay/Sox game a few days ago and it was great – not necessarily the game itself but the fact that I was watching one again.

But without further ado…

AL East

New York
Tampa Bay (WC)
Boston
Baltimore
Toronto

Pains me to say but the Yanks are stacked. I can’t see them winning less than 100 games. Tampa could win 100 as well but guys like Wade Davis and David Price will need to step up. Boston would win any other division but in the AL East they’re third best. Baltimore could surprise this year... seriously. I love the Blue Jays but they will stink it up this year. However, watch for Morrow and Rzepczynski to emerge as the top guys in the rotation. 60-65 wins.

AL Central

Detroit
Minnesota
Cleveland
Chicago
Kansas City

This is a leap of faith of sorts for me. If Max Scherzer is as good as I think he is then he could pair with Verlander to form the best pair of power pitchers in the AL. I’m also guessing on a rebound of sorts from Willis. The Twins are a young and exciting team with great young arms and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them repeat as AL Central champs. Cleveland will be better than advertised and Chicago worse. KC still sucks balls.

AL West

Seattle
Texas
Los Angeles
Oakland

At Safeco field, with Felix and Lee, they could win 40 games on their starts alone. More balanced offense (although lacking big power) and great middle infield defense will win the division. Texas might have the best offense in baseball but they need their pitchers to step up – always a challenge for them – to pass Seattle. The Angels were gutted in free agency and didn’t really replace what they lost. Weaver is not a true Ace. Oakland blows. Money Ball… what?
